What do I do?

As I have been involved in web-based and mobile technologies for many years I have found that the world is changing around us and many people are getting left behind as a rapid pace. From parents to business owners, the trend is growing and now is the best time to learn what is out there and how it can help you.

There are many facets to the internet, from social media to blogs and internet forums to name just a few. Social media is used to turn communication into interactive dialogue between organizations, communities, and individuals. I think it should be called the Social Revolution as more and more people are seeing the benefits and are reaping the rewards from capitalising from the "New Online World".

Did you know that 91% of internet users in South Africa have a facebook profile and 50% of those access it via their cell phones?

As I have been teaching IT at a high school for the past 9 years, it became very apparent that there was an ever widening gap between what parents knew about how social media works and what the pupils knew about social and how it works. A wide portion of parents were unfortunately clueless.

For that very reason I started doing talks to parents at various schools around the Cape Peninsula and the information provided was very well received indeed. Which brings me to where I am today… I now offer the following services to schools, parents or businesses to help them understand, utilise and capitalise on the various web-based mediums that are available online.

For parents – I can help you setup your Facebook, Twitter or Google +1 account and explain how to use them to their maximum effect. I also offer personal training on all Microsoft Office products.

For Schools – Invite your parents to attend my talk on Social Media / World Wide Web which will inform them of what it is, how it works and what your child is being exposed to online.

For Businesses – I offer a social media consulting service, online advertising optimization campaigns via Facebook advertising or Google AdWords. As well as Facebook fan page creation and SEO for your existing website.
